In the pre-AI world, going faster meant cutting corners -- skipping tests, reducing review depth, or accumulating technical debt intentionally. In the AI world, going faster is easy (generate more code) -- the question is whether you invest the time to ensure that faster code is also good code. Sustainable velocity is the pace at which a team can deliver indefinitely without accumulating unmanageable quality debt, security exposure, or team burnout.
